Health expert Jesse Feder, RDN, CPT, identifies the best and worst ingredients in coffee for weight loss in a She Finds article.
While coffee preferences vary, some popular options, such as creamer, whole milk, and sugar, can hinder your weight loss efforts. Feder advises limiting or eliminating these options, noting that creamer often contains sugar, unhealthy fats and extra calories, which contribute to long-term weight gain. Likewise, whole milk is high in calories, fat, and sugar, making it a culprit for weight gain.
On the other hand, there are healthier alternatives that will help you enjoy your coffee. Choose low-calorie, plant-based milk – it’s a better choice than traditional cream and whole milk. Additionally, Jesse Feder recommends flavoring your coffee with cinnamon and turmeric. Cinnamon promotes fat metabolism and blood sugar control, helping to maintain consistent energy levels and potentially promoting weight loss. Rich in antioxidants, turmeric fights inflammation and enhances fat burning, promoting overall weight loss.
Bottom line, if you make smart choices by replacing harmful ingredients with plant-based milk, cinnamon, and turmeric, your morning coffee will turn into a delicious weight-loss drink without sacrificing flavor.
