The IDF forces have been operating against the terrorist organization Hamas in the last few hours at the Nasr Hospital in Khan Yunis. The forces detained a number of suspects there. The IDF has intelligence that Hamas was holding Israeli hostages in the hospital.
Nasser Hospital is the largest in the Khan Yunis area, and the second in the area where the IDF operates, after the raid on Alamal Hospital.
The operation is now based on intelligence indicating terrorist activity by Hamas at the hospital, and its goal is to reach terrorist operatives, including those suspected of involvement in the massacre on October 7 and Hamas terrorists who took shelter in the hospital among the civilian population.
The operation was preceded by an effort to evacuate evacuees from the hospital, in order to reduce harm to those not involved. In order to evacuate the evacuees, a special passage was opened for the evacuation of the civilian population staying in the area of the hospital, towards the humanitarian area.
The forces operating in the area were trained for the task and briefed in advance regarding the importance of preventing harm to civilians, patients, medical teams and medical equipment.
The IDF stated that its forces will continue to act in accordance with international law and against the terrorist organization Hamas, which operates from hospitals and civilian infrastructure in a systematic and cynical pattern of operation, without distinguishing between the civilian population and the organization’s terrorists.
In the meantime, the IDF spokesman, Brigadier General Daniel Hagari, told the foreign media that the information about the hostages being held there came, among other things, from abductees who were released. In addition, it was reported that there may be bodies of Israeli abductees.
