One of the commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was killed in a Damascus suburb. Iranian media reported this on Friday, February 2, blaming Israel.
According to the Syrian opposition publication Nurs, at approximately 5 a.m. explosions were heard in the village of Al-Said Zeinab, about 10 km south of the Syrian capital. It was initially reported that the target was the IRGC headquarters located here, but it was later clarified that three people were killed in the attack, one of whom was Said Alidadi, the commander of the local IRGC unit.
The Iranian media also published a photograph of the liquidated officer; Adidadi’s death was confirmed by the Iranian President, traditionally promising to take revenge on the “Zionist enemy.” Tehran also said that the missiles that hit the target were fired from the Golan Heights.
We add that on February 1, Reuters reported that the IRGC decided to recall senior IRGC functionaries from Syria, fearing liquidations. “Since December, six such liquidations have been carried out,” the publication noted. Tehran denied the report, saying that they are not going to recall anyone and are not afraid of Israel.
