Purim outfit from scrap items: 9 wonderful ideas

This year, the holiday of Purim is overshadowed by war, and many have decided not to dress up in costumes or even gather in a cheerful group, as in previous years. But it may happen that your mood suddenly changes, or an unexpected offer from friends to shake things up and have fun changes your mood, and then what? There is no suit. There is no need to be sad: everything can still be fixed.

You can amaze everyone with an original outfit created by yourself. What is needed for this? A little ingenuity, a bit of imagination and… your own closet.

►1. Wardrobe storm
On the shelves with your things, your spouse’s clothes, in your children’s closets – start looking for something that might suit you for an instantly thought-up look. Sometimes the idea for a suit comes from just looking at a hanger.

Let’s say you opened a closet and saw a lot of red? Dress up as a strawberry. And if black and white outfits caught your eye, then no one has ever stopped you from becoming chess pieces on Purim.

►2. Makeup and camouflage
Makeup can play a major role in creating your look. A black pencil connecting the eyebrows with a dense strip will allow you to create the appearance of Frida Kahlo, and lipstick, eye shadow and blush will allow you to depict anything on your face – even a rainbow and a unicorn.

►3. Pajamas are not just for home
In Israel, it is completely legal to leave the house in your pajamas on Purim. Even if you weren’t invited to the pajama party, you can always point out that your fun pajamas are your Purimshpil costume.

►4. An indissoluble union
Here are a couple more ideas for original costumes from scrap items. Remember established phrases and expressions – and dress up in them. For example, “Beseder Gamur” – where one of you looks like a brand new (talker), and the other is dressed sloppily and unkemptly (gamur, Lost). Or “Red and Black” in honor of Stendhal’s novel – respectively, one in red, the other in black. Or, say, “Shabbat Shalom” – in this case, one of the costumes will have Shabbat attributes, the other will have symbols of peace. Let those present puzzle over who you are dressed up as.

One of the easiest costumes that you can create with your own hands in 10 minutes is the outfit of Sandy (or her lover Danny) from the musical “Grease” with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

To create the look you will need black trousers, a black off-the-shoulder blouse, a leather biker jacket, cork platform sandals, a belt with a gold clasp and long gold earrings. Well, there’s nothing to say at all about the image of Travolta’s hero. Grease is the key here (but modern hair gel will also work).

►6. Sweet Pink Barbie

No matter how much criticism the movie “Barbie” receives, dressing up as its main character and even winning the Purim Oscar for your costume will not be a problem at all.

The main thing here is to find things in the closet that are bright or soft pink. It doesn’t even matter what it is, as long as the suit fits the figure. Well, and of course, the necklace is an integral part of the doll’s outfit.

►7. Cowboys and romance

A favorite and also very affordable costume, which is not difficult to assemble, can safely be called the image of a cowboy. Everyone has jeans – that’s it. As a cowboy hat, you can take a straw beach hat and decorate it with a scarf – that’s two. A shirt, denim vest or jacket is in every wardrobe – that’s three.

Well, if you have conceived a romantic image of a shepherdess, then create it using the same hat, long dress and cowboy boots. Don’t have these boots? Take what you have and cover them with children’s stickers in the shape of flowers. Believe me, you will surprise everyone at the holiday!

Do you think the evening will be hot? Then you shouldn’t wear baggy suits. Dress up as football players – after all, there are countless T-shirts in your closet.

Everyone has sneakers, leg warmers or long socks can be found in your son’s closet (remember, he once went to the section?), but shorts are generally a trifle: rummage through summer things, you will find a lot of forgotten things and even , come up with a completely different image for yourself.
