It is reported that recently the suffering of passengers at a bus stop near the Golda shopping center has reached its peak. People wait for the bus to arrive, suffering from the terrible stench of garbage and sewage. In addition, the stop cannot accommodate everyone waiting for the bus, which forces people to step onto the roadway and risk being hit by vehicles.
“There is a terrible stench around the stop,” complains a resident of the Hadassah Baruch area. “I always wait for the bus near the clothing store next to the stop, it doesn’t stink so much. But when I approach the bus, the smell makes me want to vomit. I’m sensitive to smells, and every I’m trying to convince myself to hold back the nausea.”
“People living next to the stop also suffer from the stench,” N. gets angry. She lives at the entrance to Ramot on the same fetid street. “It’s really unbearable.”
Another resident, who did not want to give her name, said: “Sometimes I feel like I’m in a stinking hell from which it’s impossible to get out.”
“Instead of waiting for the bus in a pleasant environment, I feel like I’m in a huge, stinking garbage container. This stop is always full of people, there’s a lot of garbage and it’s simply impossible to breathe. The stop is so small that people are forced to go down from the sidewalk onto the roadway, and when the bus arrives, they put themselves in danger,” says Hadassah. “This stop is intended for both urban and intercity flights, but is absolutely not suitable for this task. Buses cannot pass each other, and even if it is written that. “They arrive at a certain time, they still have to wait a long time until the buses that arrived in front of them leave and pick up passengers.”
The mayor’s office commented on the situation: “The city has begun infrastructure work on the Light Rail Blue Line, so the area will undergo significant changes in the coming months. Redevelopment will include new traffic management, construction of new bus stops, widening of sidewalks, installation of modern street furniture, as well as shading and planting of vegetation. Recently The municipality has taken measures to clean up the area, including neutralizing odors. From now on, municipal crews will be conducting frequent inspections of the area to ensure that the trash container belonging to a nearby supermarket is in good condition and its filters are preventing nuisances from entering. odors into the air so as not to cause discomfort to all road users.”
