Arsenal prepared to move for 75m striker as Edu holds Barcelona advantage

As the Premier League season gets underway, top clubs are already looking to strengthen their squads with high-profile summer signings. One of the most talked-about areas of focus is the striker position, with several top teams linked to some of the world’s best attackers. Among the most intriguing names is Jesus, a £265,000-per-week star who has reportedly fallen further behind makeshift number nine Kai Havertz in Mikel Arteta’s pecking order.

Rumors of Jesus’ potential exit have been circulating, with Palmeiras, his former club, tipped to be interested in reuniting with the Brazilian international. While this may seem like a done deal to some, insiders believe that Jesus, Edu, and Arteta are set for internal talks to discuss his future. The prospect of playing time, or lack thereof, may be too enticing for the 27-year-old, who has yet to find his rhythm in his first season at the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Arsenal has their eyes on other striking options. According to reliable sources, the Gunners are keen on Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram, while Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres has also been linked to the club. The Gunners are also keeping tabs on RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, who has a “gentleman’s agreement” with the Bundesliga side that allows him to leave in 2025 or 2026.

Recent reports even suggest that Arsenal are ready to move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo, but insiders believe this is just speculation at this point. There are also murmurs of a sensational January move, but it’s unclear what the outcome may be.

Another name that has been loosely linked to the Gunners is Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, who has started the season in blistering form. The 22-year-old has scored seven goals across 12 appearances, including memorable strikes in the Champions League. This impressive form hasn’t gone unnoticed, with both Arsenal and Barcelona reportedly keen on the player. Barcelona, however, may face stiff competition from the Gunners, who are prepared to spend big to secure Duran’s services, according to Spanish media reports.

The 23-year-old’s price tag has ballooned to £75 million following his impressive form, making a potential deal a complex one. Jesus’ possible exit and Arsenal’s superior financial standing may, however, hand Edu a slight advantage over Barcelona in the race to sign Duran.

Some of the Arsenal fanbase are already praising Duran’s form, with Villa teammate Jacob Ramsey singling out his commitment and attitude. “We know his qualities, and the manager is getting the best out of him,” Ramsey said. “He’s come back with a different mentality and attitude. It’s working out at the moment.”

As the Gunners look to strengthen their squad, the intrigue surrounding these strikers will only continue to grow. Will Arsenal finally find the right player to spearhead their attack, or will they continue to miss the mark? Only time will tell.
