The Oaktree Fund’s plan to restructure the management of Inter Milan is gaining momentum, with several key figures at risk of being replaced. According to reports, the fund is seeking to make a clean break with the past and with the co-management of Steven Zhang and Suning.
The likes of Danovaro and Antonello, who have been instrumental in the success of Inter in recent years, are facing uncertain futures. And according to Corriere dello Sport, it is none other than the Inter president and managing director of the sports area, Beppe Marotta, who is behind the drive to bring in new blood.
Marotta, known for his influential connections in Italian football, is reportedly seeking to bring in personnel from Juventus, where he worked for seven years and built a network of contacts. Two names are being touted as potential replacements for Danovaro and Antonello – Francesco Calvo, the managing director of revenue and institutional relations, and Giorgio Ricci, his right-hand man and marketing area director.
Calvo, who knows Marotta well from their time at Juventus, could take on a key role in the sports area, while Ricci could step into Danovaro’s shoes as marketing director. However, these reports were immediately denied by Calvo, who dismissed the rumors and maintained that his priorities lie with the league’s assembly.
While the speculation surrounding Marotta’s plans is still in its early stages, one thing is certain – the highly anticipated restructuring at Inter Milan is due to bring about significant changes, and the team will undoubtedly be watched with interest as it navigates this challenging period. With the future of key figures already shrouded in uncertainty, only time will tell how the dust settles on this particular chapter in Inter’s history.
