Tottenham Manager’s Praise for Rising Star Mikey Moore
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has hailed 17-year-old forward Mikey Moore, saying it’s hard to deny the teenager’s exceptional talent after his impressive display in the Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar.
Moore, who was moved to the left wing in the second half, ran at the Dutch side’s defense with a stunning spell, nearly creating several goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates.
“He was exciting. You can’t deny it,” said Postecoglou, who was impressed by Moore’s composure and ability to not get flustered by the big occasion. “I love the way Mikey is taking it all in his stride, he works hard every day. He wants to develop, he understands that this is a journey.”
The teenager’s displays have caught the attention of many, including Tottenham’s official Twitter account, which shared a video of Moore in action with the caption “Madders knows”.
Postecoglou praised Moore’s attitude, saying that many young players of his age might feel like they’ve made it and become complacent, but Moore’s focus on development and his desire to make an impact on the game is what sets him apart. “It’s very easy for a young guy like him to feel like he’s somehow made it, but you never get that sense,” he said.
The manager also emphasized the importance of managing Moore’s game time, ensuring that he’s not overworked or underutilized. “We have to be really careful about how we use him and when we use him, that’s the key for us, particularly in these early stages,” he warned.
Despite Moore’s impressive display, Postecoglou was equally impressed with the performances of Richarlison and captain James Maddison, who handled the penalty incident with ease. “As long as they score, it doesn’t really bother me,” he said. “I thought Madders was outstanding today. I think he sensed in that moment Richy’s worked awfully hard and he’s kind of got his season started tonight.”
