While waiting to fully understand the developments of the investigation into the Inter and Milan ultras, changes are starting to take place in the area around the stadium compared to the recent past. As Sportmediaset reports, on the occasion of the match against Bruges in the Champions League, the Rossoneri fans who reached the stadium by car were able to park their vehicle at a uniform rate of 1.20 euros per hour, on the blue lines. Previously, due to illegal activity linked to organized crime, you could pay up to 40 euros for a single game to park in the same spaces. At city level, management has not changed as the areas in question have been under the custody of ATM since 2023, but until now there had been a lack of adequate controls and illegal car parkers, aided by the various reports under investigation, acted freely by inflating the prices of the areas around San Siro, transforming them into gold mines for organized crime.
According to data published by Palazzo Marino, in 2024 there were 2155 control interventions which led to the identification of 118 people, 73 of whom had already been removed from the plant, leading to a criminal seizure. This massive operation marks a significant turning point for the city and the residents of the area, who have long been subjected to inflated parking fees. The investigation has shed light on the extent of the problem, revealing a complex web of illegal activities that have been taking place under the radar of local authorities.
Now, with the new rate of 1.20 euros per hour, the future looks brighter for those who attend matches at the San Siro Stadium. It’s a welcome change that reflects a commitment to transparency and fair pricing, and a strong message to would-be exploiters of the system: we will no longer tolerate their illegal activities.
