407 ETR is implementing changes to its 2025 rate schedule, including new toll zones, vehicle classifications, and fee increases for the first time in five years.
The company is introducing 12 zones across the entire 108 kilometres, a change from the previous four, something being done to “better manage traffic volumes and flow.”
In a press release, 407 ETR says they are increasing fees for the first time in five years, including the camera charge, account fee, and transponder lease fee.
Most personal transponder customers will see a monthly bill increase of about $8.
407 ETR also says they are introducing new vehicle classifications for motorcycles and medium-sized vehicles.
Motorcycles will pay less than sedans and SUVs, while larger trucks, vans, and towing trailers will pay more.
The toll rate increase for light vehicles ranges from three to 14 cents per kilometre, depending on the time of day and zone travelled. See a full chart of rates on the 407 ETR site.
The company says tolls and fees are essential for highway maintenance, snow removal and policing.
