The Supreme Court on Friday rejected Justice Minister Yariv Levin’s request to reject the convening of the Judiciary Committee, designed for Sunday. The judges made it clear in their decision that the committee is the competent body to discuss reservations regarding candidates for the Supreme Court President.
“If the committee believes that it is required to have another chapter to fulfill the hearing on the claims that are facing it in the case of one or the other candidate, it is strong that it will make a decision on the matter during its meeting,” the decision states. Levin, for his part, announced that he would not be discussion and that he would not attend the conference. MK Yitzhak Cruiser (Jewish power) stated that he may come to the hearing, but will not participate in the vote.
The Minister of Justice strongly attacked the Attorney General, Gali in Rabbi Miyara, who demanded that he convene the committee in accordance with the High Court’s ruling. In a letter he sent, Levin wrote: Of the legal counsel during your term.
Levin accused the IDF for a select enforcement, claiming: “Many less than many citizens are awaiting years of deciding on investigative proceedings and examinations in their case.” He added: “Your letter will not deter me. Not unite in any legal way to bring the truth to the truth and ensure that everyone will be equal before the law. “
The High Court ruling comes after it has been revealed that Yitzhak Amit, the candidate for the Supreme Court president, appeared in a legal process by another name and did not report it. However, Levin did not convene the committee on the prescribed date and requested further rejection, claiming that it was necessary to check the claims in depth. Today, the High Court made it clear that there is no room for further rejection and that the committee must discuss the allegations of sitting.
Candidate Yitzhak Amit accused Levin for organized “organized slopes” aimed at thwarting his candidacy for the top president. In a letter he sent to Levin, Amit wrote: “There was no single stone left that did not become a delegitimization and false narrative.” Despite Levin’s opposition, the committee is expected to convene on Sunday, even without its presence. Court manager Tzachi Uziel will head the hearing.
