The Israel-based Chief Rabbinate for the Jews of Syria announced on January 12 the death of one of the country’s last Jewish women. Hadaya Shatah, 92, died at home in Damascus. Now there are only 8 Jews left in Syria.
Hadaya Shatakh died a few days ago, leaving no heirs. In her memory, the Chief Rabbi for Jewish Affairs of Syria expressed condolences to her sister Rose, also a resident of Damascus, and the entire family.
The rabbinate called on the Jews of Syria, Israel and the Diaspora to pray for the exaltation of the soul of the deceased Hadai, daughter of Fahima.

The Chief Rabbi for Jewish Affairs of Syria, who lives in Israel, Binyamin Hamra, the son of the former chief rabbi of Damascus, Abraham Hamra, emphasized that the request to recite psalms for the repose of the soul of Hadai Shatach is addressed to all Jews of the world, wherever they are.
