The Tzeva Adom air raid siren sounded on the evening of Thursday, January 9, at Kibbutz Gvulot in the Western Negev, warning of a threat of drone infiltration. Later, the IDF press service reported that the Air Force shot down a drone launched from the east. Apparently from Yemen. There are no reports of casualties. A short time later, information appeared that another drone had been shot down over the Mediterranean Sea, also most likely launched from Yemen. And after some time it became known that the third drone that evening was intercepted over the sea.
Hours earlier, the Israeli army released data on all launches from Yemen undertaken during the War of Iron Swords, as well as videos of interceptions.
In addition to the statistics, the IDF released videos of interceptions of two drones – in one case by a fighter jet, in the other by a combat helicopter. Also released were voices from an army radio during the interception of a surface-to-surface missile on December 16. (Video is at the beginning of the article.)
On the recording, a person can be heard saying: “We see a target heading to Tel Aviv, to Gush Dan. An interceptor has been launched. There is a positive assessment of the elimination and an indication of an explosion. I repeat: there are several positive indications of a successful interception.”
Earlier this week, the IDF intercepted a rocket launched from Yemen. It was shot down before entering Israeli airspace. Then the air raid siren went off in the village of Talmei Eliezer near Hadera. The Houthis said. That they were aiming at the Orot-Rabin power plant located near Hadera, launching a Palestine-2 ballistic missile at it.
A week ago, another missile was intercepted, which set off sirens in the districts of Gush Dan, Hasharon, HaShfela and the Jerusalem area. The week before, the Houthis fired missiles at Israel five times.
