Tlaleng Mofokeng, a South African doctor and UN special rapporteur on the right to health, made obscene remarks about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. She left a comment on Network X: “F*** him.” This became known on Thursday, January 23.

Even though Mofokeng deleted the comment, it managed to attract attention. The Director General of UN Watch (an organization that monitors the effectiveness of the UN), Hillel Neuer, called for action to be taken against the special rapporteur for violating the behavioral code. In response, Mofokeng launched a series of offensive and racist tweets against Neuer. She registered him as a Jew, called him a “white criminal,” “scum of humanity,” etc.

Neuer did not remain in debt and demanded that the UN conduct an investigation into the behavior of a high-ranking official, who is obliged to adhere to strict rules, including objectivity in judgment and the use of normative language.

In turn, Mofokeng explained her attacks online as “personal pain and anger due to the suffering that she has to witness as a result of her position.”

“The loss of life and destruction in Gaza is heartbreaking,” the speaker continued to explain. “It cannot leave anyone indifferent. I am in touch with many residents of Gaza and the tone of my statements on social networks is caused by the pain of their suffering. I have been and remain a supporter respectful dialogue, especially on human rights issues.”

Mofokeng works closely with the UN Special Rapporteur on the Palestinian Question Francesca Albanesewho was banned from entering the country by Israel in February 2024 because she justified the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023.

She said the October 7 attack was not “the greatest anti-Semitic massacre of the 21st century,” as French President Emmanuel Macron said. “The victims of October 7 were killed not because they were Jews, but in response to Israeli oppression. France and the international community did nothing to prevent this,” she wrote.

This is not the first time that the expression F*** him has been publicly used in relation to Netanyahu. In December 2021, Donald Trump (then ex-president of the United States) spoke of the prime minister this way because of his resentment towards him – details here.
