Particular attention should be paid to the areas of the Judean Desert, the Dead Sea, the Negev and the northern part of the Arava – flooding and river overflows are possible here.
Local residents and tourists are advised to exercise caution and monitor forecast updates.
Earlier, “Cursor” wrote that the cities with the highest risk of road accidents in winter were named.
The Green Light Association has published data on winter road safety, identifying cities with the highest risk of accidents. An alarming trend is that the number of accidents is increasing during the cold season, highlighting the importance of careful driving on wet and slippery surfaces.
With the transition to winter time in Israel from the night of October 25 to 26 to the night of March 26 to 27, 2026, the days become shorter, the evenings are cool, and the first rains make the roads especially dangerous.
According to statistics for 2024, 26 people died on slippery roads – three more than in 2023. 858 people were injured, which is 13% higher than the previous year; of these, 111 were severe injuries, an increase of 19%. On average, about 1,000 people are injured on such roads every year, 23 of whom die, and more than 100 are seriously injured.
Among the cities with the highest number of accidents on wet roads, Haifa leads the way. In 2024, 60 people were injured here, one died, one was seriously injured. Over the past ten years, from 2015 to 2024, there were 471 accidents on slippery roads in Haifa: six people were killed and 34 were seriously injured.
