The boy who wouldn't grow up takes the stage, and he's bringing the whole cast with him

Neverland has always promised the impossible: a place where children never have to grow up. But as this new production of Peter Pan reveals in its behind-the-scenes interview, the real heart of the story lives somewhere else entirely.

“Suddenly it dawned on me,” recalled Ofir Weil, who plays Smee, “there is something to that, parents who wait for their kids to come back home, kids who don’t want to grow up,” he added. It’s a small revelation that reframes the whole beloved tale, and it sets the tone for a show the cast describes, without hesitation, as amazing and genuinely funny. The music, they insist, has to be heard to be believed.

With a month to go, the company is deep in rehearsals, running choreography again and again, polishing songs independently before the pieces finally come together. The performers speak candidly about the work: the doubts, the discipline, and the quiet thrill of watching it all click into place.

Familiar names anchor the ensemble, and each actor sinks so completely into the world that, as Linoy Cohen, who plays Tiger Lily, puts it, “you really feel yourself in Peter Pan’s world.” Meshi Kleinstein, who plays Wendy, confessed she’s still a little girl at heart who never plans to grow up, and that refusal, she argues, is exactly what all of us should hold onto.

Whether you grew up believing in fairy dust or long ago traded it for a to-do list, this interview makes a quietly persuasive case for keeping your own Peter Pan alive.
