The NDI party has decided to participate in the list “Our Home of Kiryat Shmona, led by Alex Karachun” in the upcoming municipal elections on February 18. The NDI press service reported this on January 8. Alex Karachun was the vice mayor of Kiryat Shmona for 8 years, responsible for issues of aliyah and integration of repatriates, as well as for tourism. Karachun has lived in Galilee since childhood and declares his main task to be the restoration of the city, encouraging evacuees to return home, supporting new repatriates, attracting investment and developing tourism. In parallel with his municipal work, Alex Karachun is studying for a master’s degree in managing educational systems and working with at-risk youth.
Alex Karachun spoke about joining the NDI: “I made this decision because the values and ideals of this party are close to me: Zionism, national responsibility, strengthening the periphery. Avigdor Lieberman is an experienced leader with a clear strategy, a man of action. He deeply understands the problems of the North. As Minister of Defense, he initiated and secured funding for a program to defend the North and improve the level of medical care in Kiryat Shmona. I am confident that together we can achieve significant changes for the benefit of the residents. cities.”
