The Beit El Council reports with deep sorrow the death of Yishuv resident Matatihu Perel, son of Abraham and Leah Perel, who fell in battle in the Gaza Strip.
The date and time of the funeral will be announced later. “We have raised up the nations with him, for the blood of his servants will be shed, and he will avenge his slavery and redeem his land with him.”
Earlier, the IDF announced the death of 24-year-old Captain Eitan Israel Shiknazi, deputy company commander of the 932nd battalion of the Nahal Brigade, in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza. Another soldier died along with him, whose name has not yet been officially disclosed.
In the same battle, two soldiers of the Nahal brigade were seriously wounded. The council of the Eli settlement, where Eitan lived with his wife Hillel after graduating from military yeshiva, confirmed his death even before the official announcement.
In addition, the IDF presented a report on military casualties for 2023-2024. During this period, 891 people were killed, including conscripts, contract soldiers and reservists, and 5,569 military personnel were injured.
In 2023, the death toll increased sharply to 558, up from 44 in 2022. Most of them died during the fighting, but there were also deaths due to accidents, illness and suspected suicide.
In 2024, the death toll dropped to 363. Despite the decline in rates, the main causes of death remained the same: combat, accidents, illness and possible cases of suicide.
