A source told the publication Smollett fully committed to the treatment by focusing on his physical and mental health.
During his criminal trial in Chicago, Jussie’s substance abuse was continuously raised in court. The actor continues to fight his conviction and jail sentence. As previously reported, Smollett was found guilty of five felony counts of disorderly conduct in 2021 for staging a racist hoax on himself and lying to police.
Despite his legal woes, his career has taken a turn for the better. TMZ’s sources say Jussie’s management is prepping for the release of a new film, in addition to other projects.
Will The Public Support The Movie?
His reputation was tarnished after alleging that two men wearing masks attacked him, PBS reports. The actor claimed they yelled racist and homophobic slurs at him before tying a noose around his neck. After an investigation was complete, it was discovered Smollett orchestrated the entire event himself.
Law officials revealed he paid two brothers he met while working on the set of ‘Empire’ to stage the act. He instructed the men to yell he was in, “MAGA Country,” referencing former president Donald Trump’s campaign slogan, PBS reports.
Only time will tell if the Illinois Supreme Court will allow him to skip his 150-day jail sentence and make a triumphant return to Hollywood sooner than later.
