Dana Berger dedicated her new song ‘wrapped and protected’ “to everyone who needs it, but especially to all the women who are still in captivity”. The song was released recently, for Berger’s 14th album.
“I wrote the song as an enveloping hug for a woman I love very much and she needed it,” Berger says. “I am a big believer in the healing power of music, I can testify to that in the deepest and most personal way.”
Berger wrote the words and the melody for a close person she knows. “But in the process, I felt that I was also able to receive the hug I needed from myself. So many times, when we are in the process of supporting the pain of others, we simply forget or put aside our own pain.”
You’re allowed to be angry / You’re allowed to be silent / You’re allowed to scream / Travel far / Don’t try / Hold on to what you’ve closed / Now’s the time to open. Because you are wrapped and protected / you are so loved / everything will pass / and you will be fine / healthy and more beautiful than ever
The song was written the year Berger finished her respiratory therapy studies. “In recent years, I have introduced this powerful tool into my life, and I get to practice and pass on the new tools that I acquired in the workshops and retreats that I lead. People come to these special spaces who come to open their hearts, to dive in, to make room for pain.”
“You are ‘wrapped and protected’, I have been singing for the past two years, in many meetings, with many different people. But they all have one common denominator, they are looking for a way to let go, to breathe. I feel that it is a healing song for myself and for others. I am happy and excited to finally release it to the world”.
