The pressure of being a star at Juventus
In an exclusive interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Turkish midfielder Kenan Yildiz opens up about the weight of expectations as the Bianconeri’s number 10. Despite the challenges he faces, Yildiz is determined to succeed and make a name for himself in the Italian league.
“I’ve worked hard since I was a child, and I feel satisfied by the progress I’ve made so far,” Yildiz said. “But I’m only 15 years into my career, and I have many more goals to achieve.”
Yildiz has already had a whirlwind year, making his debut in Serie A and playing for the national team, scoring his first goal in the Champions League, and donning the number 10 shirt. But even the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, he warns, sometimes aren’t at the top of their game.
“I try to stay calm and focus on my own performance,” Yildiz said. “The last two years have been incredible, and I feel grateful to be in this position. But I know I still have a lot to learn, and I’m working hard to grow and improve.”
Yildiz also spoke about his admiration for Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero, with whom he has a close relationship. “Del Piero is a legend, and I admire him greatly,” Yildiz said. “I’ve even received a gift of his towel after scoring a goal in Frosinone, and it started a good relationship between us. I’m happy to be able to talk to him and get advice from him.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming match against Inter, Yildiz expressed his desire to make a winning impact. “The Scudetto is the target, and beating Inter would give us a lot of positive energy,” he said. “We’re Juventus, and we go to San Siro to win.”
As Yildiz continues to navigate the ups and downs of his career, he remains optimistic and committed to making a name for himself at Juventus. With his determination and hard work, the 25-year-old midfielder is set to make a lasting impact on the Italian league.
