An IDF soldier who works as a truck driver began a relationship on Facebook with an Iranian agent who pretended to be a woman, Kan News reported.
According to the report, at the request of the “woman”, the soldier documented the Iron Dome batteries and sent “her” the photographs. After the incident was discovered, the soldier was prosecuted and sentenced to 10 days in prison.
An IDF spokesperson stated: “As part of the ongoing activity to monitor and thwart IDF officers’ misbehavior on social networks, an enemy infrastructure was exposed that operated with the aim of extracting information about IDF forces and activities.”
“This is an infrastructure that activated dozens of profiles by the Axis countries with the aim of providing intelligence to Hamas.
“The IDF reminds and urges its soldiers to show responsibility for vigilance and adhere to instructions, the intelligence security system continues to expose and thwart this type of enemy infrastructure,” the IDF statement concluded.
