Mainoo has made it on to an eight-strong shortlist for Goal of the Month, following his sublime curling effort against Liverpool on 7 April.

What he did next was simply sensational though, turning on a sixpence before arcing an unstoppable effort beyond Caiomhin Kelleher in the Merseysiders’ goal.
It evoked memories of Federico Macheda’s famous debut goal, scored almost 15 years ago to the day, and surely stands a great chance of being United’s fifth winner in this category this season alone.
