Istanbul, Turkey – In a highly competitive encounter, Fenerbahce and Manchester United fought to a 1-1 draw at the opposition’s home turf. The match saw both teams creating opportunities, with Christian Eriksen giving United an early lead, only for Youssef En-Nesyri to level the scores in the second half.
The Turkish side, eager to make an impact, kicked off with a lively tempo, with Bright Osayi-Samuel and Fred having early chances. However, the visitors responded well, winning possession and momentum. The breakthrough came in the 15th minute, courtesy of Daniel James, who orchestrated a swift counter-attack and laid the ball off to Christian Eriksen, who finished with aplomb, scoring with a right-footed shot into the top left corner.
As the first half progressed, Fenerbahce began to gain control, with En-Nesyri causing Scariolo concern with his pace and agility in the box. United goalkeeper Andre Onana, however, made a couple of crucial saves to preserve the slim lead.
The second half saw Fenerbahce push for the equalizer, with En-Nesyri and substitute Mert Muldur, who replaced the injured Edin Dzeko, working tirelessly to break down the United defense. In the 49th minute, a delivery from Allan Saint-Maximin picked out En-Nesyri, who powered a header past Onana to draw the home side level.
United, not willing to relinquish the draw, introduced Rasmus Hojlund, who had a few opportunities to restore the lead. A late effort from the 20-year-old, who replaced Joshua Zirkzee, was thwarted by Fenerbahce goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic.
The match ended on a high note, with both sides showing moments of quality in a physically demanding game. Although neither team could secure a winner, the result was a testament to the strength and competitiveness shown by both Fenerbahce and Manchester United.
