Insight Timer Unveils Free Therapist Hub to Support Mental Health Professionals and Ease Burnout

As the mental health crisis in the U.S. grows, mental health professionals are increasingly struggling due to workforce shortages. More than half of therapists report having feelings of burnout. And although demand for mental health services is high, many independent providers are struggling to grow their business.

That’s why Insight Timer — a mental health company offering resources for meditations, sleep, wellbeing and other areas — launched a new platform this month called the Therapist Hub. It aims to provide free tools for mental health professionals to help them treat and find new patients. This includes therapists, psychologists, social workers and counselors.

The Therapist Hub offers 300,000 free mental health resources in 50 languages, such as audio practices and worksheets, that therapists can share with clients between sessions. It also allows therapists to promote themselves on Insight Timer’s Therapist Directory, which is available to millions of patients using Insight Timer.

In addition, mental health professionals can access resources to help them battle compassion fatigue, imposter syndrome and work-life balance.

According to Insight Timer’s CEO, Christopher Plowman, the Therapist Hub solves three key problems in mental healthcare.

“First, it provides long overdue support for therapists themselves, who we know are dealing with industry-wide burnout and higher than ever demand for their services,” he said. “Second, the Therapist Directory will help professionals build more robust businesses by engaging new clients. And third, it improves the patient experience by helping them feel more supported throughout the week between sessions.”

He added that it doesn’t add any financial burden to mental health professionals, as all of the resources are free to use.

The company has partnered with several experts in the mental health space for its library of resources, including Dr. Richard Schwartz, founder of IFS; psychologist Tara Brach; Kristin Neff, a professor and expert on self-compassion; and psychologist Rick Hanson.

“The Insight Timer Therapist Hub is a valuable new resource for mental health professionals. It not only supports clinicians in caring for their clients but also provides tools to help care for their own wellbeing. I’m pleased to have contributed a series of free self-compassion worksheets to the library, which therapists can share directly with clients or use in session. The Hub offers professionals a simple way to integrate the wisdom of Insight Timer with their clinical practice,” Neff said in a statement.

Insight Timer started building the Therapist Hub about a year ago when it discovered that about 25,000 mental health professionals were already using the company to support patients, Plowman stated. It aims to have 1 million therapists use this platform in the next two years.

“To reach this goal we have a simple product strategy – to continue to build more free tools based on the feedback from mental health professionals using the Therapist Hub,” he said.

Several other companies also provide resources to support independent mental health professionals, including Headway, Alma and Grow Therapy. However, these companies mainly focus on connecting providers to patients and helping them with administrative tasks like credentialing, onboarding and billing.
