Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to attend the international Gaza peace summit in Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday, a senior Palestine Liberation Organization official told Haaretz.
The official said the decision was made in the last few hours in coordination with the United States and Egypt, after talks that took place to bring official Palestinian representation to the summit. Israel was not invited to the summit, which is expected to be attended by about 20 leaders from around the world.
The summit is expected to open Monday at 2:30 P.M. local time. U.S. President Donald Trump will fly to Sharm el-Sheikh from Israel to attend the event.

The heads of state who will participate in the conference include British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is also expected to attend the meeting, Turkish television network NTV reported.

A source familiar with the matter told the Iranian Tasnim News Agency that the Islamic Republic did not accept the invitation to participate.
A French diplomatic source told Haaretz that the summit will discuss the postwar governance of the Gaza Strip and the introduction of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

According to the source, the heads of state will discuss the establishment of a U.S.-Qatari-Egyptian-Turkish “task force” to secure the release of the hostages, as well as the committee of Palestinian technocrats that is supposed to be established in the Gaza Strip under the agreement.
It was also stated that the leaders are expected to discuss the “humanitarian emergency” in the Gaza Strip.
