The press secretary of the military prosecutor’s office, on the instructions of the chief military prosecutor, Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, was instructed to transfer the video recording from the Sde Taiman base to the Channel 12 journalist.
The news portal “KAN” reports this.
According to informed sources, the order directly indicated the name of the journalist, who was to be given a video recording of cases of abuse of Palestinian prisoners at the Sde-Tayman base. The press secretary disclosed information about the transfer and publication of the video recording even before passing the polygraph test.
At the same time, the government is discussing options for an external investigation or the appointment of a special investigator.
Following the publication of information about the ill-treatment of a Palestinian prisoner at the Sde Tayman base, the situation for the hostages who were in the hands of Hamas terrorists deteriorated sharply. The data was transferred to the negotiation group, which then forwarded it to the relevant authorities.
Next week, the chief military prosecutor will face interrogation with a notification of suspicion of obstruction of the investigation and breach of trust. Several other officers, including senior members of the military prosecutor’s office and investigation team with knowledge of the case, will also be summoned to Lahav 433.
Earlier, “Cursor” wrote that the former chief military prosecutor of Israel, Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, was at the center of a high-profile investigation into the leak of a video from the Sde Taiman base, in which it was alleged that Israeli reservists brutally treated a detained terrorist.
After Tomer-Yerushalmi admitted that it was she who agreed to the publication of these footage, the course of the investigation was significantly changed.
