US President Donald Trump had been told about the “concept of the deal” with Iran, and will soon be reviewing the exact wording, the president told reporters at West Palm Beach in Florida on Saturday.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump confirmed that he would be reviewing a plan sent by Iran, but added that he “can’t imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years.”
Trump also told reporters on Saturday that he would like to eliminate the remaining 15% of Iran’s missile-making capabilities, after previously having said that the US and Israeli strikes had destroyed 85% of it.
Trump also stated that the possibility of restarting strikes against Iran was there for if they “misbehave” or “do something bad,” but did not commit to strikes in the near future.
The United States would be withdrawing more than 5,000 US troops from Germany, Trump noted, claiming that “We’re going to cut way down, and we’re cutting a lot further than 5,000.”
A senior Iranian official said that fighting with the US was “likely” to resume after Trump said he was dissatisfied with Tehran’s new proposal, Iranian media reported on Saturday.
Iran’s Fars cited Mohammad Jafar Asadi, a senior figure in the Iranian military’s central command, as saying that “a renewed conflict between Iran and the United States is likely.”
In light of this, KAN News reported that the IDF was preparing for the possibility of the US resuming strikes on Iran.
