The country singer-songwriter was announced as a surprise performer earlier this week and played at the Mojave Tent last night (April 18), where Jack White played during weekend one.

To mark the occasion, she arrived on stage on horseback and gave her upcoming album’s title track its live debut as the opening number. Other new songs to be performed live for the first time were the bittersweet, toxic relationship ballad ‘Back On The Wagon’ and ‘Uncertain, TX’ – which featured a line dance break.

Musgraves last performed at Coachella in 2019. During that set, she famously instructed the crowd: “When I say ‘yee,’ you say ‘haw’,” but scolded them in a now-viral moment, saying: “I didn’t say fucking yee!” when they yelled “haw” too early.

Her set saw her reference that moment, taking a brief interlude to play the clip to the packed audience.

Check out footage from her performance and see her full setlist below.

Kacey Musgraves’ Coachella 2026 setlist was:

‘Middle of Nowhere’‘Back on the Wagon’‘Justified’‘High Horse’‘All My Ex’s Live in Texas’‘Uncertain, TX’‘It Is What It Is’‘Golden Hour’‘Butterflies’‘Space Cowboy’‘Neon Moon’‘Slow Burn’‘Dry Spell’

Reviewing her previous Coachella slot, NME praised Musgraves for “making country cool”.

“It feels a little too early to tell if Musgraves is about to have a Taylor Swift moment and go completely pop, but, in the meantime, she’s doing a fine job of changing perceptions of her country roots,” it read.

Musgraves is due to release the follow-up to 2024’s ‘Deeper Well’ on Friday May 1. It’ll feature the recent single ‘Dry Spell’, as well as contributions from Miranda Lambert, Willie Nelson, Billy Strings and Gregory Alan Isakov.

The star took home a Grammy at the 2025 awards, winning in the Best Country Song category for her track ‘The Architect’ from ‘Deeper Well’.

In a three-star review of Musgraves’ latest record, NME wrote: “‘Deeper Well’ vibrates with the excitement of a fresh start. The sixth LP from country crossover star Kacey Musgraves lives in a state of suspended animation, reeling out self-care mantras without worrying if they will seem embarrassing years later.
