Nottingham Forest is off to a strong start in the Premier League, having only lost once so far in the current season. Their recent 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at the City Ground continued their impressive form, which has seen them sit in the top half of the table. The team, managed by Nuno Espírito Santo, has had a remarkable run of form, including a historic win over Liverpool at Anfield and draws with European contenders Chelsea and Brighton.
However, it seems that the club is not content to stop at just their current success, as a fresh report has emerged suggesting that they are preparing an offer to sign a new midfielder next summer. According to reports from Turkey, Nottingham Forest are one of several clubs interested in 24-year-old French midfielder Batista Mendy, who plays for Turkish side Trabzonspor.
Mendy, who was once considered a gem for the future during his time in Ligue 1, has become a key player for Trabzonspor’s midfield, starting 31 games in the Turkish top flight last season and seven times this campaign. He is described as a “strong ball-winning midfielder” with “technically secure” passing abilities.
The 24-year-old is highly valued, with a 20m euros (£16.6m) price tag slapped on his head by Trabzonspor, who are looking to turn a profit on the Frenchman. Nottingham Forest, along with Crystal Palace, are said to be among the clubs preparing offers for Mendy, although it is unclear whether they would be willing to meet the price tag.
While reports suggest that an unnamed Russian club is also interested, it is unclear whether they will be able to match the interest from the Premier League duo. For now, it seems that Nottingham Forest is firmly in the mix for the highly sought-after midfielder, and only time will tell if they can secure his signature.
