Sullivan stance on Lopetegui sack as West Ham sound out title-winning boss

West Ham’s under-fire manager Julen Lopetegui is under increasing pressure after a string of disappointing results, with some fans calling for his head. The Spanish coach has managed just two wins in the Premier League, with his team failing to find consistency and struggling to make an impact in the top flight.

Lopetegui’s lack of success has led to speculation that his days at the club may be numbered, with significant doubt over his ability to turn things around. A dismal loss to Tottenham and a lack of progress in the transfer window has piled more pressure on the beleaguered boss.

However, David Sullivan, West Ham’s co-owner, has so far maintained his backing for Lopetegui, stating that the coach needs more time to get the team right. But with a growing sense of unease among fans and pundits, it is hard to see how Lopetegui can salvage his position.

In the event that West Ham do decide to part company with Lopetegui, there are already rumors of potential replacements. Edin Terzic, the club’s backroom coach, is being touted as a possible interim boss, while Sergio Conceicao, the former Porto manager, is also in the frame.

Conceicao, who has won multiple honors in Portugal and has been named Manager of the Year in his country three times, is seen as a top candidate to take over at the London Stadium. The 49-year-old has a wealth of experience in Portugal, having managed both Porto and Sporting CP, and could bring a new level of stability to the team.

Lopetegui, on the other hand, has a reputation for struggling to replicate his success in new environments. His last job before arriving at West Ham, a stint as manager of Wolves, ended in disappointment, and many feel that he has not lived up to expectations since taking the reins at London Stadium.

With the team facing a crucial Premier League fixture against Manchester United on Sunday, it remains to be seen whether Lopetegui can turn the tide and prove his doubters wrong. However, with the club’s owners apparently unwilling to make a change, it looks increasingly likely that the Spanish coach will indeed be shown the door.
