Rep. Jasmine Crockett: ‘Law Enforcement Isn’t to Prevent Crime; Law Enforcement Solves Crime’

It’s not the job of law enforcement to prevent crimes from being committed, Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett declared Wednesday in an interview.

Denouncing President Donald Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to deter crime in areas of the country that are being ravaged by lawlessness, Rep. Crockett contended that the role of law enforcement is merely to solve crimes – after they’ve already been committed:

“I want to be clear that, like, law enforcement isn’t to prevent crimes.

“Law enforcement solves crimes, okay. That is what they are supposed to do.

“They are supposed to solve crimes, not necessarily prevent them from happening, per se. So, that’s number one.”

Crockett’s claim was so outrageously nonsensical that Newsweek Senior Editor-at-Large Josh Hammer deemed her “a freaking moron.”

“What is she talking about?” Hammer asked in an interview with Sky News, noting that “law enforcement has multiple responsibilities,” including deterrence of crime. “Countless studies” have shown that “Police absolutely deter crimes through, among other things, their mere physical presence,” Hammer said.

“She’s a freaking moron. I mean, Jasmine Crockett is a genuinely low-IQ figure,” the Newsweek editor concluded.

Rep. Crockett made her comment during a “Grounded” podcast co-hosted by former Democrat Montana Senator Jon Tester. The full interview is presented below.
