Sgt. First Class (res.) Lidor Porat killed in southern Lebanon, IDF announces

Sergeant First Class (res.) Lidor Porat, a 31-year-old soldier from Ashdod, was killed during combat in southern Lebanon, the IDF announced on Sunday.

Porat was a soldier in the 7106th Battalion of the 769th Regional Brigade.

The IDF stated that, during the incident in which Porat was killed, another soldier was severely wounded, four were moderately wounded, and four were lightly wounded.

All wounded soldiers were evacuated to receive medical treatment, and their families have been notified.

Porat and his unit had been operating in Kafr Kila when a D-9 military bulldozer ran over an explosive device belonging to Hezbollah, causing it to detonate, according to Army Radio’s Doron Kadosh.

The IDF is currently investigating when the explosive had been placed and whether there has been a violation of the current ceasefire, Kadosh noted.

This is a developing story.
