It’s taken 20 years for The Devil Wears Prada 2 to make its way to screens, but a third film might be a closer possibility.
Directed by David Frankel, the comedy sequel picks up as Andy Sachs returns to Runway magazine as a senior editor, alongside Miranda and Nigel Kipling. Her former colleague Emily, meanwhile, is now an executive at Dior.

Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt all reprise their roles, with newcomers to the cast including Kenneth Branagh and Justin Theroux.
While the original film was based on the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger, the sequel is an original creation penned by screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna.
Is The Devil Wears Prada 3 happening?
At the time of writing (May 1), there are no confirmed plans for a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Anne Hathaway suggested the box office success of the film will determine whether they’ll return for another instalment.
“I hope so, I feel like there’s more road to explore,” Hathaway said. “But, we’ll probably have a better idea of that [when the film comes out].”
What have the cast and creators said about a third film?
Director David Frankel said he believes these characters ‘might live on’ beyond The Devil Wears Prada 2. “Let’s see what happens,” he told EW. “It’s show business. It’s anybody’s guess. We said no 20 years ago, and here we are.
“I don’t want to say yes now. They are very rich characters, they’re amazing actors, there’s great screenwriting, so I could imagine that these characters might live on.”
Elsewhere, Emily Blunt hopes any potential third film will give her and Stanley Tucci “more to do together”, admitting that they wanted a “little more to chew on together” in the sequel.
