Loathe Announce First New Album in Five Years, Unleash “Revenant”: Stream

Loathe have announced A Stranger to You, the band’s first new album in five years. Ahead of its July 17th release via SharpTone Records, the single “Revenant” has been unveiled.

The new album is slated to feature several guests among its tracks, including jazz and trip-hop artist Jordan Rakei, the highly conceptual pop screamo band STATIC DRESS, prog and jazz-rock prodigy Mansur Brown, and rapper bucki sugar.

The song “Revenant” features NOWHERE2RUN, the group comprised of Code Orange members Jami Morgan and Eric “Shade” Balderose. Alongside a combination of shoegaze, nu-metal, and progressive metal, downtuned riffs reminiscent of Korn are layered with frantic hardcore vocals and icy synths, with the occasional industrial metal or avant-garde noise guitar added in.

This new single follows the release of “Gifted Every Strength” in May of last year. While at the time it was a stand-alone release, it has now been confirmed to also appear on the upcoming studio album.

Loathe will kick off an Australian tour on May 9th in Perth, before heading over to Europe for a run of June dates. Static Dresses will be along for the ride for the Australian shows, while Loathe will be supporting Mastodon for several of their EU dates.

Additionally, Loathe are set to play Lollapalooza in Chicago on July 31st, and Louder Than Life in Louisville on September 18th.
