Tennis champ Jannik Sinner visits Azzurri in Miami

The Italy squad had a very special visitor when inspecting the Chase Stadium, as tennis champion Jannik Sinner joined Luciano Spalletti’s men.

The Azzurri flew to Miami on Tuesday ahead of their two international friendly matches to warm up for Euro 2024.

They will face Venezuela in Fort Lauderdale’s Chase Stadium on Thursday evening, then Ecuador at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on Sunday.

As the squad had their pitch inspection in the stadium usually used by Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, they received a surprise visit from tennis champion Sinner.

He was in Miami for the Masters 1000 tournament and wanted to say hello, so the Nazionale interrupted their training session to greet him with applause and pose for pictures.

They included 2006 World Cup winner Gigi Buffon, who is now working as part of Spalletti’s staff.

Sinner became the first Italian to win a Grand Slam title for over 30 years when he took the 2024 Australian Open.
