Tragedy on holiday evening: 62-year-old resident of Petah Tikva found dead

A 62-year-old man was found dead in his apartment in Petah Tikva on October 13. The body was found by ZAKA service volunteers called to the scene.

The call came to the control room of ZAKA, a volunteer organization for the collection, identification and burial of remains. Although the tragedy occurred on the eve of the holiday of Simchat Torah, which is celebrated in Israel on October 14, volunteers did everything necessary to prepare the body for burial on the evening of October 13.

ZAKA emphasizes the importance of paying attention to others, be it neighbors or relatives, noting that it is very important to be interested in the condition of lonely people. Sometimes, noticing their need or absence in time can save their life. Even if it is too late, at least it is possible to show respect to the deceased in a timely manner and ensure a decent funeral on time.

If you have lonely neighbors, check on their condition at least once a day and report them to social security authorities. You can also give information to ZAKA (tel. 1223), and they will organize a volunteer who will periodically call people on the phone and provide support.
