An Israeli citizen died on Sunday after collapsing during a Saturday flight from Moldova to Israel.
The flight made an emergency landing in Turkey, where an emergency medical team was waiting. The passenger was hospitalized, but doctors were forced to pronounce them dead.
The Israeli was approximately 70 years old, according to N12 News.
The Foreign Ministry is accompanying the deceased’s family and is working with Turkish authorities to bring their remains for burial in Israel.
Turkey has seen rising antisemitic sentiments over recent years, with the regime often hosting Hamas leadership.
Additionally, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan last Sunday accused Israel of carrying out atrocities against Palestine and Lebanon, while echoing earlier remarks that hinted at the possibility of military action against the Jewish state.
