Puka Nucua’s 21-day practice window has been opened by the Los Angeles Rams

As the Los Angeles Rams approach their Week 8 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, fans are left wondering what they’ve been missing. Despite a promising start to the 2024 season, the team’s record now stands at 2-4, a far cry from the high expectations set by the franchise. The answer, quite simply, lies in the absence of the team’s top two wide receivers.

Pro Bowl WR Cooper Kupp, who injured his ankle in Week 2, has missed four consecutive games, and Pro Bowl WR Puka Nacua, the team’s 2023 rookie phenom, has been sidelined with a PCL injury since Week 1. The absence of these two talented playmakers has left a gaping hole in the Rams’ offense, and it’s been a struggle to fill.

The good news is that Kupp is expected to make his return for Thursday Night Football in Week 8, and the Rams have now opened up a 21-day practice window for Nacua’s potential return. If all goes according to plan, both receivers could be back on the field as early as next week.

When Nacua first joined the Rams in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL draft, he was touted as a potential game-changer. And that’s exactly what he proved to be in his rookie season, hauling in 105 catches for 1,486 yards and six touchdowns. His production was a crucial factor in the Rams’ success, and many hoped for more of the same in 2024.

Unfortunately, an lingering knee injury from the preseason and a devastating PCL injury in Week 1 put those plans on hold. Now, as the team looks to turn their season around, the return of Nacua and Kupp can’t come soon enough.

The lack of big-play potential has been a major culprit in the Rams’ recent struggles. They’ve yet to have a receiver eclipse 100 yards in a game since Kupp’s Week 1 performance, with Tutu Atwell coming closest with 93 yards in Week 3. With Kupp and Nacua expected to return, the Rams will finally have the firepower to compete with opposing defenses and potentially find their way back to the win column.

It’s a much-needed boost for a team that’s desperate to turn things around. As they welcome the Vikings to town on Thursday, the fans will be eagerly awaiting the return of their dynamic duo. When Kupp and Nacua are back on the field together, the Rams will finally have the ability to consistently compete and perhaps, just perhaps, turn their season around.
