HENDERSON, Nev. — Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders after failing to reach an agreement on a contract extension, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Raiders brought in a veteran receiver on Monday. Amari Cooper posted on Instagram that he was back with the organization. He signed a one-year deal, according to multiple reports.

Meyers, who had his first 1,000-yard season in 2024, has one year left on a three-year, $33 million contract.

He caught 87 passes last season for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns. Meyers was the only NFL receiver with at least 85 targets and no dropped passes, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Raiders made receiver a priority in this year’s draft, selecting TCU’s Jack Bech in the second round and Tennessee’s Dont’e Thornton in the fourth. Thornton has had an especially productive training camp and is listed on the first team of Las Vegas’ most recent depth chart along with Meyers and Tre Tucker. Bech is on the second team.

Tight end Brock Bowers was the Raiders’ prime target last season as a rookie. He caught 112 passes for 1,194 yards and five TDs.

Meyers played his first four seasons with New England after going undrafted out of North Carolina State in 2019. He started 29 games over his final two seasons with the Patriots, catching 150 passes for 1,670 yards and eight touchdowns.

Meyers signed with the Raiders in March 2023 and started all 31 games he played in for Las Vegas.

Cooper was drafted fourth overall by the then-Oakland Raiders in 2015 and played for the club until being traded to Dallas in October 2018 for a first-round pick. He has exceeded 1,000 receiving yards seven times, most recently two years ago for Cleveland, when Cooper had 72 catches for 1,250 yards and five touchdowns.

He had 44 catches for 547 yards and four TDs last season for the Browns and the Buffalo Bills.

The Raiders announced Monday they waived 14 players and released four others. The most notable players let go were cornerback Sam Webb and wide receiver Phillip Dorsett.
