Drake might be pushing his luck when it comes to his recent reversal of the “Drake Curse.”

After the Toronto Blue Jays took a 3-2 lead in a best-of-seven series against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2025 World Series, the hip-hop star took to his Instagram Stories to mock baseball’s greatest player.

With the Blue Jays one win away from capturing their first Commissioner’s Trophy since 1993, the Toronto rapper trolled Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani, who went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Wednesday night.
Los Angeles’ lineup failed to make a dent against Blue Jays starter Trey Yesavage, who recorded 12 strikeouts and allowed just three hits across seven innings of work.
In a photo posted to his Instagram Stories, Drake re-shared an image of Ohtani whiffing on a third strike with Yesavage already heading towards the Blue Jays dugout.

“Savage already (on the way) to the dugout boss lol,” he captioned the snap.
After the Blue Jays cruised to a 6-1 victory, Drake posted a photo of Ohtani beaming in a 2022 GQ spread and wrote, “One more to go.”
Yesavage called his ascension from the minor leagues earlier in the season to pitching in the World Series the stuff dreams are made of.
“It’s a crazy world,” he told reporters postgame. “Hollywood couldn’t have made it this good.”
Drake, who is the Toronto Raptors’ Global Ambassador, has been cheering on the Blue Jays during this year’s MLB post-season run.
When the Blue Jays took on the Seattle Mariners in the American League Championship Series, he was “losing his mind” during Game 7.
“One strike away, we’re going to the big show,” Drake said in one video. “Get the boys a pizza and some Cokes.”

Last week, Drake celebrated his 39th birthday by attending Game 1 of the World Series.
Drizzy was spotted in the stands wearing a Don Bosco Eagles jacket with the late Rob Ford’s name emblazoned on the front and a blinged-out chain that showed off the CN Tower and celebrated both the Blue Jays and the Raptors.
“What up? The biggest Sixer … live from the World Series, on my birthday. I see the whole city came out tonight. Shout-out to the Jays,” the Hotline Bling hitmaker said.
When MLB shared the selfie-shot video, the Blue Jays were trailing 2-0, but Drake was unfazed.
“We’re down right now, but we’ve been here before,” he said.
Shortly after it was posted, the Blue Jays tied the game 2-2 on a Daulton Varsho home run with Alejandro Kirk on base.

By the end of the sixth, the Blue Jays were up 11-2 thanks in part to a Grand Slam from Addison Barger and a two-run shot courtesy of Kirk.
The Blue Jays went on to win 11-4.

But despite Toronto’s turnaround, as soon as he was shown on the giant outfield video board during Game 1, watchers at home and in the stands took to social media to air their worries that his presence might doom the team.
“THE DRAKE CURSE IS AMONG US,” one die-hard fan wrote on X, with another adding, “The Drake curse is in effect.”
After his latest digs at Ohtani, curse chatter bubbled up once again.
”We all know what happens once Drake picks a side to root for in sports … put the house on the Dodgers,” one person wrote.
”Now, if the Blue Jays get cooked, we know why,” a second added.
For those unaware, the “Drake Curse” emerged after an unscientific study determined that the teams the Grammy winner supports have a tendency to lose.

When Ohtani spurned Toronto for Los Angeles in 2023, Drake was held partially responsible by some keyboard warriors when he posted a picture of himself to Instagram wearing the Japanese superstar’s All-Star jersey.

As soon as Drake shared the photo that seemingly celebrated Ohtani’s signing, Blue Jays fans immediately started to fear that the three-time MVP was headed to the Dodgers.
“Ohtani is now a Dodger — it’s confirmed,” one fan wrote, while another declared, “(This is an) All-time Drake curse moment if (Ohtani to the Jays) doesn’t happen.”
“I believe the kids these days say this is bad luck so it probably means he isn’t going to Toronto…” a third person lamented.
During media day, Ohtani was asked about the Drake versus Kendrick Lamar rap beef that has been a subplot of the World Series, but he stayed on the sidelines. “I’m not too knowledgeable of music,” Ohtani said.
Drake hasn’t revealed if he’ll be at Game 6 Friday at Rogers Centre, but expect him to be merciless if Toronto beats Los Angeles and captures the team’s first World Series title in 32 years.
