The services of the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN), in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), carried out a major security operation simultaneously in Marrakech and Tangier on June 8, leading to the arrest of eleven individuals wanted nationally and internationally for their suspected involvement in cases of drug trafficking, money laundering, fraud, and organized crime.
According to Moroccan authorities, ten of the arrested individuals were the subject of Interpol Red Notices issued at the request of French, Belgian, and Dutch judicial authorities. The apprehended suspects consist of Franco-Moroccan, Belgian-Moroccan, and Dutch-Moroccan nationals, as well as a French national wanted in Morocco.
In detail, six French nationals of Moroccan origin were wanted by French justice for their suspected involvement in international drug trafficking networks, money laundering, fraud, and membership in criminal organizations. Three Belgian nationals of Moroccan origin were targeted by Belgian justice investigations related to international drug trafficking. A Dutch national of Moroccan origin was also the subject of a Red Notice for similar acts.
The operations carried out in the two cities led to the seizure of luxury vehicles, high-end motorcycles, valuable watches, significant sums in national and foreign currencies, mobile phones, bank cards, passports, as well as doses of cocaine. These elements should allow investigators to expand their inquiries into the financial and international ramifications of the targeted networks.
France, Belgium, and the Netherlands are among the main judicial partners involved in this operation. The arrests were carried out within the framework of close cooperation between Moroccan services, Interpol, and several European authorities engaged in the fight against drug trafficking and money laundering.
At this stage, Moroccan authorities have not officially published any names among the eleven arrested individuals. The press releases issued by the DGSN as well as the main Moroccan media outlets that reported on the operation do not identify the suspects. The ongoing judicial procedures as well as potential extradition requests should provide more information in the coming days.
This operation constitutes one of the most significant crackdowns carried out in recent months against internationally wanted individuals. It also confirms the central role played by Morocco in Euro-Mediterranean security cooperation and in the fight against transnational criminal networks operating between Europe and North Africa.
