El Al signs codeshare deal with Latvian flag carrier airBaltic, expanding northern European network

El Al announced a new codeshare agreement with Latvian flag carrier airBaltic on Monday.

The codeshare will come into effect for flights departing from July 1 onwards.

“We’re pleased to announce that starting today, we are expanding our flight offerings with a new codeshare agreement with airBaltic,” El Al said.

“As part of the agreement, airBaltic flights on the non-stop Tel Aviv-Riga route and connections to Riga from a variety of El Al destinations across Europe are now available for booking via El Al,” the Israeli airline stated.

Additionally, it will offer “connecting flights from Riga” to “key destinations, including Stockholm, Vilnius, Oslo, Copenhagen, Helsinki, and Tallinn.”

This will allow members of El Al’s Matmid Frequent Flyer program to continue earning points and diamonds when traveling on codeshare flights under the LY code “when the ticket number starts with 114.”

El Al also has codeshare deals with several global partners, including Delta Air Lines, Tarom, Scandinavian Airlines, Siberia Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Aeromexico, Qantas, Aerolineas Argentinas, Air Portugal, Bangkok Airways, Thai Airways, Hong Kong Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Air China, and Etihad Airways, according to its website.

It also has codeshare deals with five airlines to specific locations, namely, KLM to Amsterdam, Air France to Paris, Azerbaijan Airlines to Baku, Royal Air Maroc to Marrakech, and Iberia to Madrid and Barcelona.

The Starlink service will be offered to customers free of charge, according to Reuters.
