UK court convicts Norwegian linked to murder-for-hire scheme tied to Iran-linked network

UK court convicts a 19-year-old Norwegian after finding him guilty of involvement in a murder-for-hire operation ordered by an Iran-linked gang, authorities said. Prosecutors told the court that the defendant had been recruited by the sanctioned Swedish organised crime group known as the Foxtrot Network, which law enforcement says has targeted Jewish and Israeli individuals across Europe. The conviction follows an investigation into transnational criminal activity conducted by London police and prosecutors in the United Kingdom.

Court proceedings established that the accused played a facilitating role in arrangements connected to the commissioned killing, though prosecutors did not disclose operational specifics or identify alleged victims in open court. Evidence presented included material used to link the defendant to recruitment and coordination efforts attributed to the Foxtrot Network. The judge found the prosecution had met the burden of proof on the counts brought against the defendant.

The Foxtrot Network has been the subject of sanctions and public statements by authorities in recent months, who describe it as a Sweden-based organised crime group with ties to actors operating on behalf of Iran. London police have said the group has focused resources on Jewish and Israeli targets in multiple European jurisdictions, prompting law enforcement responses aimed at disrupting its activities. Investigators have highlighted the cross-border nature of the alleged offences and the challenges of addressing coordinated, international crime networks.

The convicted defendant remains in custody as the case moves to the next phase of the United Kingdom’s judicial process. Police statements indicated that inquiries linked to the broader investigation will continue while authorities assess the full extent of the network’s activities in Europe. The conviction marks a further legal step in efforts to hold individuals accountable for participation in organised, politically linked criminal operations.
